After years of tv commercial acting, in 2023, I was fortunate to have my son cast along side me in my very first national commercial that is now going to be a series! The three commercials shot to date were a BLAST to film. Expecting nation-wide release in April 2024. Photo left is on set in Anaconda, Montana. My son, Cade and I will share the screen with two very accomplished actors, Valerie Accetta and Aven Lotz.
My first movie, Office Uprising, was such an eye-opener and eductional experience. Actor Brenton Thwaites was so nice and cool to a "newbie," but Gregg Henry, who has been in more movies than I can list here, was amazing. I spent a lot of time with Gregg and feel like I got acting 101 lessons from a great!
TV commercials are a blast! So much goes into a 30 second commercial that most people would never think about. For example, every interaction between two or more actors is normally shot multiple times. Once focusing on one actor, then the lights, audio, camera, background is reset to capture the other actor(s), and the two are spliced together. But SOMETIMES, if one of the actors is a BIG celebrity, or just doesn't wanna stay on set long enough, they bring in a body double. So that shoulder, back, head, leg, or butt of the back of your favorite tv character might just be some stand in...
Not recent, just too funny not to share. When cast for this commercial, the talent agent simply said, "It's for Phillips but I can't share the details." I figured it was a new or unreleased drug. Once on set, I asked a cameraman if he knew what the commercial was for and he said, "an ED drug." During the shoot, the AD told me as I sat by my pretend wife (photo), to "look longingly over the water, thinking about that thing you miss so much." Made perfect sense. Turns out, the thing I was missing was swimming in the lake because of a lung issue that now, Phillips could fix with it's new lung product.
